Led by Doug Margerum, Margerum Wine Company is rooted in a lifelong passion for wine that began when Doug was a teenager visiting Clos de Papes in the Rhône Valley of France. Twenty years later, a pivotal dinner in New Orleans inspired him to turn that passion into a calling, and in 2001, he founded Margerum Wine Company. Early vintages were produced in a humble 400-square-foot space Doug built behind Brander Vineyard – later moving into the “tree house” winemaking space above Curtis Winery before establishing a permanent home.
Since 2012, Margerum Wine Company has operated out of their state-of-the-art facility in Buellton, crafting wines from across Santa Barbara County. Margerum focuses on natural winemaking, old-world techniques, and intentionally scaled production that allows each wine to develop its own character and personality. These are wines Doug and his team love to drink themselves, some meant for youthful enjoyment, others built to age gracefully; all are made to be shared and savored with loved ones!
